The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast scattered rain or thundershowers accompanied by lightning and temporary gusty winds in parts of the country over the next 24 hours starting from 9am today (May 1).
In its latest bulletin, the Met Office said showers are likely to occur at a few locations in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, and at one or two places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, and Sylhet divisions.
"A trough of low pressure lies over West Bengal to the North Bay across the southwestern region of Bangladesh," the bulletin said, indicating unstable atmospheric conditions.
The BMD also noted that daytime temperatures across the country may rise slightly by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, while night temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged.
On Wednesday, the highest temperature was recorded at 35.0°C in Baghabari, Rajshahi division. The day’s lowest temperatures — 20.5°C — were recorded at Chuadanga in Khulna and Tetulia in Rangpur.
In Dhaka, sunset is expected at 6:27pm Thursday, with sunrise at 5:27am Friday.
