Mild heatwave sweeps parts of Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted a mild heatwave sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Sylhet divisions, along with Tangail, Faridpur, Brahmanbaria, Khulna, Jashore, and Chuadanga districts. 

The condition is expected to persist over the next 24 hours.

A low-pressure trough extends from West Bengal to the Northwest Bay across southwestern Bangladesh, while monsoon activity remains weak over the country.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds may occur in parts of Chattogram, Sylhet, and scattered areas of other divisions. 

Rajshahi recorded the highest temperature on Thursday at 37.3°C, while the lowest was 23.8°C in Bandarban. 

The highest rainfall, 96 mm, was recorded in Koyra.

Sunset is at 6:47 PM today, and sunrise is expected at 5:11 AM tomorrow.
