On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day 2025, the Media Freedom Coalition (MFC) member states in Bangladesh have reiterated their commitment to upholding media freedom, freedom of expression, and access to information.
In a joint statement issued on Friday, the MFC emphasised that a free, independent, and diverse media is essential for protecting human rights, strengthening democratic societies, and promoting accountability.
The coalition called for the safety of journalists and media professionals, stressing that they must be able to work without fear of censorship, intimidation, or violence.
“We stand in solidarity with journalists in Bangladesh and around the world who contribute to informed, resilient, and inclusive societies,” the statement read, adding that MFC members will continue to advocate for an environment where freedom of expression is respected and all voices can be heard.
