BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmad has warned that any domestic or foreign forces attempting to conspire against the country will be resisted by the people.
He made the remarks on Tuesday (Sept 30) while paying tribute with flowers at the grave of BNP founder and martyr President Ziaur Rahman, during the anniversary celebrations of the Jatiyatabadi Ulema Party.
“The people of the country are focused on the upcoming elections. Potential candidates are engaging with voters. If any party tries to obstruct the electoral process, the public will identify them and reject them politically,” Salahuddin said.
The BNP leader emphasized that the party does not seek religiously divisive politics. “The BNP operates through the inclusion of all religions and communities. We want to ensure that citizens can fully exercise their voting rights in a free and fair democratic process,” he added.
He also called on all political parties to work towards eliminating divisions within the country.
Regarding the proportional representation (PR) system, Salahuddin warned that its implementation often results in a hung parliament and political instability.
