Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) media cell has dismissed a recent interview published by Kolkata-based daily 'Ei Samay' featuring the party’s secretary general, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, calling it misleading and incorrectly presented.
In a statement shared on BNP’s verified Facebook page late Tuesday, the media cell said the interview “has been wrongly presented,” and warned that it may cause confusion among the public.
According to the statement, Mirza Fakhrul clarified that the comments attributed to him in the published interview were never made.
“Although several Bangladeshi media outlets carried reports with various headlines based on this interview, the statements are inaccurate and misleading,” it said.
Describing Mirza Fakhrul as a “senior political leader who never makes frivolous remarks,” the statement condemned the publication of such reports.
The BNP leader urged the public not to be misled and called on journalists to refrain from disseminating what the party considers “false and confusing” news.
