BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed has said the history of the Awami League (AL) is a history of looting and terrorism.
"The history of the Awami League is a history of looting and terrorism, looting, money laundering and killing of democracy," he said while addressing the Comilla South District BNP biannual conference at the Comilla Town Hall as the main speaker.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman joined the event online as the chief guest.
Salahuddin alleged that the Awami League killed 1,400 people during the July uprising and crippled more than 20,000. “We could come here today after the fall of Hasina at the cost of huge blood and sacrifice. Let us not forget our bloody history," he said.
He further said, “Hasina has taken refuge in Delhi while doing business with the spirit of 71. Hasina died in Dhaka while doing business with the spirit of 71 and she was buried in Delhi.”
The BNP leader stressed that the spirit of 71 or religion cannot be used as political business. “Islam is not a political box. Those who want to create a political division in the name of Islam must be confronted politically through votes," he said.
Highlighting BNP’s reformist stance, Salahuddin said the 31 points announced by Tarique Rahman are real reforms and more logical proposals will be added. He also urged leaders and activists to counter anti-BNP propaganda actively on social media.
The conference was presided over by Comilla South District BNP convener Zakaria Taher Sumon and moderated by Member Secretary Mahmud Wasim, with several BNP leaders speaking.
