ICT-2 accepts charges against Inu

The International Crimes Tribunal-2 (ICT-2) has formally accepted charges of crimes against humanity against Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASAD) President Hasanul Haq Inu in connection with the July–August 2024 student-led Mass Uprising.

The tribunal also issued a production warrant directing Inu to appear in court on September 29 in the case.

A three-member tribunal bench, headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, passed the order on Thursday after hearing a petition from the prosecution. Prosecutor Md Mizanul Islam argued on behalf of the prosecution, with other team members present during the hearing.

According to the case documents, seven people were killed and several others injured in Kushtia during the student-led Mass Uprising. The tribunal’s investigation agency had earlier submitted its report to the prosecution.

Meanwhile, ICT-1 yesterday reviewed two phone call records between Hasanul Haq Inu and ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina during the period of the uprising.
