BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has emphasised the party’s commitment to restoring public trust in the electoral process and strengthening democratic values across the country.
In a verified Facebook post published Thursday morning (September 18), he underscored the importance of earning the confidence of every voter, calling it one of the party’s foremost responsibilities in the lead-up to the upcoming polls.
Tarique Rahman wrote, “As a democratic political party, the BNP is reaching out to people from all walks of life — from grassroots communities to professionals — and reinforcing our organisational structure from the village to the centre. Through this coordinated effort, we aim to ensure transparency and accountability.”
He disclosed that, in response to various complaints, the party has already taken organisational action against more than 7,000 members. “Some have been removed from their posts and others expelled due to corruption, extortion, and misconduct,” he added.
Acknowledging the difficulty of such decisions amidst widespread smear campaigns, Tarique Rahman said, “These were necessary steps dictated by reality. Discipline is not a weakness — it is our strength.”
Positioning the BNP as a symbol of service, justice, and competence, he highlighted the party’s push for greater inclusivity. “We are prioritising inclusion by ensuring broader participation of women, young leaders, and professionals. This will help the nation move forward and keep politics rooted in public service.”
He further noted that the BNP has consistently embraced modernisation to meet the evolving demands and challenges of the time. “Our party’s policy framework is based on a 31-point programme, addressing key issues such as education, healthcare, youth employment, climate change, and digital innovation.”
In a message directed at BNP leaders, he called for unity, discipline, and dedication. “Let us remain united, disciplined, and committed to serving the people. Just as I have confidence in each of you, I ask that you have confidence in me. Only then can the path of democracy shine brighter.”
The party's acting chairman concluded by expressing hope and determination: “Together, we will prove that a system of accountability, stable institutions, and a future aligned with the people's aspirations can be built in Bangladesh, Insha’Allah.”
