Elderly man killed in city road crash

DHAKA: An elderly man was killed as a passenger bus knocked him down in city’s Khilgaon area on Monday morning.

Witnesses and Khilgaon Thana sources said that the victim Abul Bashar (65) was seriously injured as a passenger bus knocked him down.

After rescuing him, pedestrians rushed to nearby Khidma Hospital. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) as his condition deteriorated.

However, DMCH on-duty doctor declared him dead on arrival.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Khilgaon Thana assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Jaynal Abedin said that Abul Bashar was retuning home after bringing his grandchild to school in the morning.

He was knocked down by a passenger bus and died at DMCH, the ASI added.
