Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at many places across Bangladesh over the next 24 hours, beginning at 9am today (Sept 18), according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

In its latest bulletin issued this morning, the BMD forecast that many areas in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds, while a few places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions are also expected to receive similar weather. 

Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is likely at places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions.

The bulletin further noted that both day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged throughout the country. 

The monsoon trough extends across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal to Assam through the northern part of Bangladesh, with one of its associated troughs reaching into the North Bay. Monsoon conditions are currently fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay.

The highest temperature recorded on Wednesday was 34°C in Mongla and Khepupara, while the lowest temperature recorded today was 23.9°C in Sylhet. In Dhaka, sunset is expected at 5:59pm today, with sunrise scheduled for 5:46am tomorrow.
