DHAKA: Rain and hail hit the city and its neighborhood areas early Saturday in the last end of the winter and likely to fall at different parts the country.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) meteorologist Rasheduzzaman told banglanews that light rain or drizzle is likely to occur at one or two places over Dhaka, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions.

Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country. Moderate to thick fog may occur over the river basins and light to moderate fog may occur elsewhere over the country.

Ridge of sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining area. Seasonal low lies over South Bay extending its trough to North Bay, the met office added. 

Night temperature may fall by 1-3°C and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Earlier, rain and hail began in the city’s southern part 2:30am and lasted about half an hour.

Readers from Dhammondi, Mogbazar, Iskaton, Mirpur and Bashunshara areas told the Banglanews24.com that rain, hail also hit their areas.

BMD recorded 2 millimeters rain in the city and maximum 20 millimeters in Kutubdia upazila of Cox's Bazar during last 24 hours.

Humidity has also increased across the city following the rain, according to met office.

Rasheduzzaman said that the relative humidity was 85 percent in Dhaka and its neighborhood area. Temperature was 17.2° Celsius till 6:00am in the area, which may increase to 28.5° Celsius.

According to Met Office, day temperature may fall slightly over the area.

Country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 30.4° Celsius in Feni while minimum 10.3° Celsius in Ishurdi of Pabna on Friday.
