Indian Maitree Express crippled in Gazipur

GAZIPUR: Rail communications with Khulna and the country’s northern region to Dhaka came to halt since Tuesday night after Indian Maitree Express crippled at Kaliakoir upazila of the district.

The engine of the train developed the technical glitch around 7:45pm in Kalampur area of the upazila after it hit truck.

Joydebpur Railway Station assistant station master Nasir Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews. A relief train is on way to the spot, said the station master.

The train was coming from Kolkata carrying passengers in seven compartments, a Railway Ministry information officer told banglanews.

Train communications would become normal soon, he expressed hoped.
