Suspected robber killed in B’baria ‘gunfight’

BRAHMANBARIA: A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Ashuganj of the district early Tuesday (Nov 13).

The deceased Saddam Hossain, 26, a member of a dacoit gang was accused in a number of cases filed with different police stations, claimed police.

Besides, three members of a robbery gang were held, Ashuganj Police Station officer in-charge Zabed Mahmud told Banglanews.

He said a police team of Ashuganj, Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station along with Detective Branch of police (DB) raided Jatrapur Chaporbari area after midnight.

Sensing presence of police, the robbers opened fire targeting the law enforcers, prompting them to retaliate that triggered “a gunfight”. Saddam died on the spot.

The law enforcers held injured robbers Akash, Ridoy and Ashraful from the scene, the OC said. 

Apart from a pistol, a CNG-run auto rickshaw and a bike were seized from the spot, he added.
