GOPALGANJ: Two people were killed as a covered-van hit a peddled-van on Dhaka-Khulna Highway at Dhumdia in Sadar upazila of the district on Thursday (Nov 23) morning.

The deceased were identified as Manjur Sardar, 50, of Tebaria village in Sadar upazila and rickshaw-van driver Mamun Shikdar, 45 of Narail district.

Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Sub-Inspector Saiful Islam told Banglanews that the accident took place around 8:30am when the Dhaka-bound covered-van hit a rickshaw-van carrying two people.

Rickshaw-van driver and a passenger died on the spot, he said.

Police recovered the bodies and seized the covered-van.
