BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed today said the party is in the process of finalizing candidates for the upcoming national elections and that a single candidate will soon be given the “green signal” in each constituency.
Speaking to journalists at his residence in Gulshan, he said: “We have multiple eligible candidates in every constituency — in some places even 10 to 12. Once the selection process is completed, one candidate will be directed to begin campaign activities in each seat.”
Salahuddin said that BNP is also in discussions with various political parties about forming election-centric alliances.
Highlighting the need for unity, he said political parties opposed to authoritarianism must stand together in defense of democracy, despite differences among themselves.
He said the ruling Awami League, saying the party has shown no remorse for atrocities committed and instead was “conspiring about the country from Delhi.” He further remarked that the government should file cases against Awami League in the International Crimes Tribunal.
Salahuddin said that while BNP has long demanded accountability for Awami League, it does not support banning any political party through executive orders, stressing that such matters should be resolved through judicial processes.
