PARBATIPUR (DINAJPUR): At least five people were killed and scores injured as a storm lashed different parts of Dinajpur district on Saturday night.

The victims included Mitu Roy (22), pregnant wife of Mukul Chandra Roy of Phulbari upazila, Aleya Begum of Chirirbandar upazila and Sirajul Islam (60) and his grandchild Sabbir (8) of Nawabganj upazil.

Moreover, the storm had destroyed several hundreds of trees, including lichi and mango trees.

Electric supply has been disconnected as the storm uprooted poles in different parts of the district.

Vehicular movements have also been disrupted as many of the roads are blocked by the uprooted trees.

Dinajpur deputy commissioner Ahmed Shamim Al Razi confirmed the matter to banglanews.
