DHAKA: The government has been tracking the conversations of some specific cell phones for several days. BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia was on the top of the list.
Moreover, some active leaders of the party were also in the tracking net.
Sources said that the government has collected information on widespread violence after tracking the voices of the cell phones in recent days.
According to the records, most of the phone calls came from London and were received in Dhaka’s Gulshan, Naya Paltan and their adjacent areas.
However, the law enforcers took additional security measures as the voice records indicated instructions of creating violence across the country.
Following the records, law enforcers detained some senior BNP leaders in recent drives and took control over the cell phone network of BNP chief’s political office in Gulshan.
Sources further said that the expansion of terror network through cell phones was discussed at a regular cabinet meeting on Monday.
