6 trains cancelled, probe body formed

CHITTAGONG: The Railway authorities cancelled the schedule of six trains as the rail communications remain snapped due to derailment of a train in Boro Takia area under Mirsarai Upazila on Monday.

A four-member probe committee, headed-by divisional transport officer Firoj Iftekhar of Railway Eastern Region, was formed to investigate the accident.

The other members of the committee include -- divisional mechanical engineer (loco) Towhidur Islam, divisional engineer-1 Abidur Rahman, DST Sakir Hossain.

They were asked to submit the report as soon as possible to the General Manager of the region.

Earlier on the morning, the Chittagong-bound train from Mymensingh derailed as some miscreants removed pandrol clips of fishplates of rail tracks in the area, leaving at least 10 people injured.

Chittagong Railway station master Abul Kalam Azad told banglanews that Dhaka-bound Subarna Express and Mahanagar Provati were scheduled to leave at 6:40am and 7:00am respectively. But the trains did not start due to the accident.

As a result, the schedule of Subarna Express, Mahanagar Provati, Chandpur-bound Sagorika Express and Godhuli Express cancelled.
