DHAKA: Dhaka University professor Mesbah Kamal Sunday said dialogue would have to be held with people not BNP chairperson who has chosen the path of violence.
Dialogue cannot be held with those who patronize terrorism and militancy, he added.
He came up with the assertion while addressing a round table titled ‘Violent Politics Confined Country: Way to Solution’ at Hotel Lakeshore in city’s Gulshan area.
In the roundtable, Daffodil University pro-vice chancellor professor Golam Rahman said the quarters are doing violence to destroy achievements of the emerging country in the name of movement. They want to send the society to backtrack.
Indicating the BNP-Jamaat alliance, he also questioned that whose purpose they are serving in the name of politics and democracy. They failed to show responsible attitude to country people. Previously, they could not recognize themselves as responsible opposition party.
He added: “Their only aim is to assume power. They failed to enforce any program for the welfare of country and its people.”
“All should have rejected these parties which take stance against the mass people in the name of politics,” Golam Rahman added.
