HABIGANJ: Two people were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shahpur area of Madhabpur upazila in the district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Safiq Mia, 40, son of late Talib Mollah and Masuk Mia, 50, son of late Mukter Hossain of Shimulghar village under the upazila.

Locals said the CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit a Madhobpur-bound maxi (human hauler) from behind in the area around 2:30pm, leaving the two auto-rickshaw passengers dead on the spot and two other injured.

The injured were taken to the Madhobpur Upazila Health Complex.

Officer-in-Charge Ezazur Rahman of Shaestaganj Highway Thana confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On information, the law enforcers rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, the OC added.
