DHAKA: Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said that 14 monitoring cell will monitor bazaars in the capital with a view to monitoring the retail market, hoping to keep the prices of essential in check and control the price hike during Ramadan.

The minister came up with the assertion while discussing on the budget in national parliament on Sunday.

Tofail Ahmed said that the government is trying to keep the price within the capability of sensible consumers and cheek unbridled manipulation of prices.

He also said that Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), the state-run agency, will sell sugar, pulses, gram, oil and dates through 3,032 dealers.

Using 174 trucks, it has already started fair-price sale across the country from June 10.
