DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, aslo Awami League (AL) president, claimed AL was established to fulfill people’s hopes and aspirations.

History of AL says the party was established to fight all kinds of oppressions against the people of Bangladesh and show them the path to freedom and its taste.

The premier made the remarks while addressing a rally, to observe 65th anniversary of the party, at Suhrawardy Udyan in city on Friday.

Hasina said AL had established to make the people of Bangladesh as an independent nation. The sun of freedom was set in the ‘Amrakanon (Mango orchard)’ of Palashi which was lifted up again by the AL in another Amrakanon at Meherpur during 1971.

PM also claimed that AL led the liberation war in 1971.

AL general secretary and LGRD minister Sayed Ashraful Islam, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, among other leaders, were present in the rally.

Ahead of the rally, huge law enforcers were deployed around the place to avert unwanted situation.
