600-gm gold recovered at Shahjalal

DHAKA: Armed Police Battalion (APBn) recovered two gold bars, weighing 600 grams, from inside the shoes of a passenger at Shahjalal International Airport on Friday night.

Police, however, held the passenger, Abul, 41, hailing from Jajira of Shariatpur district, for carrying the gold bars.

The gold bars, worth about Tk 24 lakhs, was recovered from the passenger of EA-085, which landed at the airport from Singapore around 9:30pm, the customs official said.

On suspicion, customs officials conducted a search on , Abul returning home from Singapore, and found the gold bars on him, he added.

APBn senior ASP Alamgir Hossain Shimul confirmed the matter to banglanews.
