PM praises countrymen for record

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Friday congratulated the countrymen for securing a place in the Guinness Book of World Records by singing the National Anthem.

The premier also congratulated and thanked the entrepreneurs and each and every participants of the programme.

Prime Minister in a statement said, “The nation that could achieve independence of the country through a war, have nothing unattainable.”

She also said the national unity that was expressed through singing national anthem will enrich the country and help to build Sonar Bangla dreamt by Bangabandhu.

Mahbubul Haque Shakil, special advisor to the Prime Minister, told about the statement.

On March 26, Bangladesh set world record by singing its national anthem with 2,54,681 voices together at the National Parade Ground in city’s Tejgaon area.

Later on April 9, Guinness Book of World Records authority recognized the matter.

It said: “The most people singing a national anthem simultaneously is 254,537 and was achieved by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of the Peoples` Republic of Bangladesh (Bangladesh) at the National Parade Ground in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on 26 March 2014.”
