Tarique’s punishment demanded

DHAKA: Cultural organization Bangladesh Awami Sangskritik Jote on Friday demanded exemplary punishment to BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman for terming Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman “illegal prime minister”.

The Jote leaders came up with the demand at a human chain in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Friday morning followed by a protest procession.

Speakers, at the demonstration, said Bangabandhu was the leader of us all in the country and his leadership lead to get independent Bangladesh.

Those were making cynical comments, were the anti-liberation forces and Tarique’s conspiracy remained behind it, so that he would have to be given exemplary punishment, they demanded.

Having finished the human chain, leaders and activists bought out the procession and burned Tarique’s effigy.

Led by Jote president Mosarrof Hossain, Jote joint secretary Kamruzzam Sohag and organizational secretary Jasim Uddin, among others, attended the demonstration.
