Bus set on fire, shots fired in Dhaka

Miscreants set fire to a bus of Alif Paribahan and fired shots after forcing passengers to get off in the Senpara area of Mirpur-10 in the capital on Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 7:15am under metro rail pillar no. 266, said Kafrul Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdullah Al Mamun.

According to police, three men carried out the attack. Two of them boarded the bus, evacuated the passengers, and set it ablaze, while the third opened fire at the windows from outside. The attackers fled the scene immediately afterward.

OC Mamun said the incident appears to have stemmed from an internal conflict within Alif Paribahan, and a case is being filed over the matter.

Mirpur Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohammad Maksudur Rahman said some staff members were recently dismissed from Alif Paribahan, and disgruntled ex-employees might have been behind the attack.

“Legal action is underway, and police are working to uncover the exact motive,” he added.
