Two youths were killed and another sustained serious injuries when a train hit their motorcycle at the Chhatiangram level crossing in Adamdighi upazila of Bogura early today.
The deceased were identified as Toufiq Hossain, 18, son of Nayan Hossain, and Maruf Hossain, 18, son of Helal Hossain, both residents of Uthrail Bamonigram village under Santahar Union.
The injured, Rahim Uddin, 18, son of Akash Hossain from the same village, was admitted to a local hospital in critical condition.
Police and eyewitnesses said the three friends were heading towards Adamdighi from Chhatiangram Bazar around 12:30am on a motorcycle when a Dhaka-bound Chilahati Intercity Express rammed into them as they attempted to cross the railway track. Toufiq and Maruf died on the spot.
A team from Santahar Railway Police Station later recovered the bodies and handed them over to their families after completing legal procedures.
Confirming the incident, Habibur Rahman Habib, officer-in-charge of Santahar Railway Police Station, said a case of unnatural death has been filed.
