School boy addicted to ‘Blue Whale’ in Gazipur

GAZIPUR: A school student has been reportedly addicted to the online-based suicide game ‘Blue Whale’ at Boherarchala area of Sreepur upazila in Gazipur.

The teenage boy, identified as Rakib, 14, son of one Shamsul Haque of that area, is a student of local school called ‘Meridian School’ located in Sreepur upazila.

The headmaster of Gazipur Meridian School Billal Hossain said, on information given by a Rakib’s classmate, a blood-soaked sketch of whale was spotted in his right hand after unfolding his shirt’s sleeve on Monday (October 16).

In addition, a video on ‘How to sketch a whale in hand with a blade’, with a length of 2:10 seconds was also found in his cell phone.

Following this shocking discovery, teachers informed his parents about his addiction to this game.

Rahima Khatun, Rakib’s mother, said, she was unaware of her son’s addiction to this lethal game.

“He seems grumpy and smashes things at the slightest excuse now-a-days,” the mother added.

Rakib has been irregular in his school for a couple of days, showing reasons of illness and others.

Rakib, however, said he installed a game in his cell phone, but deleted it later. He drew the whale in his hand on Sunday (October 15).
