A major fire erupted at the Al Hamid Textile Factory, located in the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) of the city, on Thursday afternoon.

The blaze reportedly started around 2:00 PM in the nine-story building, which employs over 500 workers.

Alamgir Hossain, Deputy Director of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence, told Banglanews24.com that they received reports of the fire around 1:45 PM.

Fifteen units of the Fire Service are currently working to bring the blaze under control. 

The cause of the fire and whether there are any casualties have not yet been confirmed.
