Rain likely to increase across country from Friday: Met Office

Bangladesh may see a rise in rainfall from Friday (Oct 17), according to a forecast issued on Wednesday (Oct 15) as a seasonal low lies over the south Bay of Bengal, with its extension stretching to the north Bay, meteorologist KM Hafizur Rahman said.

For the 24 hours to Thursday morning (Oct 16), light rain is likely at isolated places in the Chattogram division, while weather elsewhere will remain mostly dry under partly cloudy skies. Day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

From Thursday morning to Friday morning, light to moderate rain is forecast at a few places in Chattogram and at one or two locations in Khulna and Barishal.

Other regions should stay mainly dry with partial cloud cover. Daytime temperatures may edge down slightly, with little change at night.

From Friday morning (October 17) through the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram, and at one or two spots in Dhaka and Sylhet. Elsewhere, conditions will be partly cloudy and predominantly dry.

Both day and night temperatures may dip slightly, with a similar pattern expected over the following two days.
