A major fire broke out at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at about 2:15pm on Saturday (October 18), officials said.
The Fire Service and Civil Defence said 25 units were deployed, with 16 actively working to contain the blaze.
Airport Fire Section teams, a Bangladesh Air Force firefighting unit and other agencies joined the operation soon after the alarm was raised.
Talha bin Jasim of the Fire Service media cell said the first call reported flames near Gate No. 8 of the cargo area; five units were dispatched initially, with additional crews mobilised as the situation escalated.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damage were not immediately known.
Civil aviation authorities said flight operations remained normal and urged passengers and staff to follow safety instructions. A detailed report will be issued after the firefighting operation concludes.
