Three people were killed and two others injured as a passenger bus ran over a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Biswaroad area in Kachua upazila of Chandpur on Thursday morning.

The accident took place in Koriya area around 8:30 am.

The deceased were identified as Urmi Majumder, 24, and Md Rifat, 24, masters students of Cumilla Victoria College, and Saddam, 22, honours student of Chandpur Government College.

According to locals, a Dhaka-bound bus of 'BRTC Paribahan' hit the auto-rickshaw from in front, leaving three passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and two others critically injured.

The injured auto-rickshaw driver and another passenger were taken to Kachua Upazila Health Complex.

Kachua Police Station officer in-charge Md Mohiuddin told Banglanews that being informed, the police recovered the bodies of the three victims from the spot. 

The BRTC bus was seized, he said, adding the legal action would be taken in this regard.
