Probe body formed over aircraft crash

RAJSHAHI: A five-member probe committee was formed over training aircraft, Sesna-152, crash at Shah Makhdum Airport in Rajshahi that killed a female trainee pilot.

The committee, led by Civil Aviation Group Captain Nazmul Anam, was asked to submit the report within two days.

Shah Makhdum Airport manager Setafur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Senior Sub-Station Engineer of Civil Aviation Authority Enamul Haque said they started the investigation after forming the committee.

The committee members also visited the spot around 5:10pm Wednesday and talk with the local people about the accident.

The committee initially came to know that the pilot of the aircraft lost her control while she tried for emergency landing as the training aircraft faced fierce wind.

Earlier on Wednesday, the training plane made a crash landing at the airport at noon as its engine caught fire, leaving pilot Tamanna dead on the spot and her trainer Shahed sustained more than 60 percent burn injuries.

Shahed Kamal was taken to Rajshahi Medical College from and later he was shifted to Combined Medical Hospital of Rajshahi.

Later, Shahed was sent to Dhaka by a special helicopter for better treatment.
