Pilot killed in aircraft crash

RAJSHAHI: A female trainee pilot was killed and her trainer sustained burn injuries as a training aircraft crashed at Shah Makhdum Airport in Rajshahi on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Tamanna Ferdous, hailed from Nikunja-2 of Dhaka while injured is trainer Shahed Kamal.

Bangladesh Flying Academy president Shahbuddin Ahmed (Bir Uttam) told banglanews that the training plane Sesna-152 made a crash landing at the airport at noon as its engine caught fire, leaving Tamanna dead on the spot while her trainer Shahed sustained more than 60 percent burn injuries.

Shahed Kamal was taken to Rajshahi Medical College from where he was shifted to Combined Medical Hospital of Rajshahi, Shahbuddin added.

Later, Shahed was sent to Dhaka by a special helicopter for better treatment, Shahbuddin added.
