DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Tuesday expressed her grief as the International Cricket Council (ICC) president AHM Mustafa Kamal was not allowed to be present in cricket world cup trophy hand over ceremony.

The premier made the comment on Tuesday at the ECNEC meeting held at NEC conference room in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.

She said as per ICC constitution, its president hands over the world cup trophy to the winning team. But this year, the ICC rule was breached.

It is really unfortunate that someone handed over the trophy in place of the ICC president, she said adding, “if it was Australia premier, then there was no objection”.

An ECNEC source said that the PM also criticized the umpiring decisions in the quarter final match between Bangladesh and India.

On Kamal’s comment regarding the umpiring, Hasina vehemently said that she has seen nothing wrong as the ICC president deserve the constitutional rights to comment.

She further said that it is not acceptable if Kamal is excluded from the prize distribution ceremony for his comment on umpiring.

However, the trophy was handed over by ICC chairman N Srinivasan, despite the ICC's amendment of its rules in January 2015 to mandate that ICC president is supposed to give trophies at global competitions.

Kamal, moreover, in television interview accused that the ICC of not honoring his rights. He also warned of revealing information from within the governing body after he returns home.

"I was supposed to give the trophy today," Kamal told two Bangladeshi television channels.

"It is my constitutional right. But very unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to do so. My rights were dishonored. After I go back home, I will let the whole world know what's happening in ICC. I will let the whole world know about those guys who are doing these mischievous things," he added.
