NETROKONA: A court here awarded death penalty to two men for raping and killing a girl of class-2 some three years back in Atithipur village under Barohatta upazila.

District and Session Judge Dr AKM Abul Kashem passed the order on Tuesday in presence of the accused.

The death row convicts were- Ali Hossain, son of Siraj Mia and Masud Hossain Mabud, son of late Asan Ali.

Case statement read that the convicted men raped and slaughtered Shabnur alias Chhutni, daughter of Jahangir Alam on June 13 in 2012.

Jahangir filed a case and on suspicion police detained Ali and Mabud. Later the duo gave confessional statement before court.
