NARAYANGANJ: A five-year-old boy was drowned in a pond in Fatulla area of the district on Monday noon.

The deceased was identified as Yakub Islam, hailed from Jatrabari area of the city.

Yakub’s grandmother Mokseda Begum said that the minor fell into a pond while he was playing in the area around 1:00pm.

At one stage, he was rescued from the pond and then rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.

On-duty doctor of the hospital declared Yakub dead around 3:0pm.

DMCH police outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sentu Chandra confirmed the matter to banglanews.
