GOALANDA, RAJBARI: Ferry services on Daulatdia-Paturia route in the Padma river resumed on Thursday morning after three-and-half hours suspension due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
Ferries started plying at 9:00am as the visibility returned. Besides, six ferries with passengers and vehicles, those earlier remained stuck in the mid river, left for the jetties.
Earlier, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), Daulatdia office manager M Shafiqul Islam said the authorities suspended ferry services on the route from 6:00am as marking lights become blurred due to heavy fog.
Huge numbers of vehicles are waiting on both sides of the ferries, causing immense suffering to hundreds of passengers.
