SINGAPORE: The authorities have imposed restricted access to the foreigners from Muslim countries in Singapore lately in the face of rising “terrorist attacks” by Islamic militant groups around the world.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong said that the government is against militancy adding that any kind of violence or terrorism will be dealt with zero tolerance.
After his announcement, visa officers are delaying in giving visas to the tourists from 12 countries including Bangladesh and Pakistan. They are also facing thorough checking by the immigration officers after entering the country.
Recently, the immigration police of the country refused the entry of two Pakistani citizens as they were found suspicious.
The tourists from several Muslim countries including Bangladesh are being enquired.
Recently, the Taliban killed 141 people, including 132 children, in an army-run school at Peshawar in Pakistan. Moreover, a “Muslim” attacked at a cafe in Sydney in Australia and killed two hostages.
Following these incidents, an emphasis has been taken on national security in Singapore.
However, several remarkable changes within the immigration system seemed to occur almost overnight utilizing the immigration law in Singapore.
