FROM LONDON: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a bilateral meeting with Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Anthony Lake at Walworth Academy 11:00am local time (BDST 4:00pm) on Tuesday.

Foreign Ministry sources said they discussed about increasing the enduring assistance of UNICEF in the education of children of Bangladeshi and of their role as an important development partner.

Later, the premier held another meeting with the Minister of State for International Development Desmond Swayne TD MP.

After the meting, Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to participate in the Girl Summit 2014 and highlight her government’s pledges and initiatives to empower women and steps to reduce child-marriage.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina held a bilateral meeting with her United Kingdom counterpart David Cameron at the 10 Downing Street at 8:30am local time (1:30pm BDST).

heikh Hasina arrived here on Monday on a three-day official visit to the United Kingdom to attend the first-ever Girl Summit.
