Report against Sohel Rana soon

DHAKA: The Anti-Corruption Commission and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will submit a joint report soon on the crimes and corruption of Sohel Rana, owner of collapsed Rana Plaza.

ACC secretary M Foyjur Rahman Chowdhury made the remark in a press briefing at ACC in the capital.

Foyjur Rahman said, “The investigations of ACC and CID are at the final stage and it will be submitted jointly to avoid repetition of any crimes and corruption.”

Besides, the government has already confiscated all immovable assets of Sohel Rana as per a High Court directive.

Nine-storied Rana Plaza, which housed five garment factories, a branch of Brac Bank and a shopping complex, collapsed on April 24, 2013 killing over 1129 people.

Two cases were filed against Rana, his father Abdul Khalek, five owners of the garment factories and several others in connection with the building collapse.

Rana was arrested at Benapole in Jessore, four days into the building collapse.
