4 recruited for St Martin beach

DHAKA: Four sea beach workers have been recruited and many initiatives have been taken at Saint Martin’s Island to alert and save the tourists on the island.

Coast Guard official Lieutenant Kazi Harunur Rashid came up with the disclosure while answering a query of a participant of ‘Public Opinion’ event organized by banglanews on Tuesday afternoon.

Country’s leading online news portal organized the event on the tragic issue of drowning six students of Ahsanullah University at Saint Martins in the Bay recently.

The officers of Navy are providing training to the beach guards, he added.

Moreover, caution signs were shown to alert about the risky areas at the island, Harunur Rashid further said.

However, he also suggested the visitors to be aware about the hazardous places before they bath into the sea water. The tourist must be conscious about the sorghum and ebb, he added.

He also said that the newly appointed beach men will be available to assist the tourists in the area.

On the other hand answering another question of a viewer he said that Coast Guards’ duty is to protecting illegal fishing, preventing drug dealing, saving the mangrove forest, rescuing any boat from the sea shore rather guiding the tourists or standing as lifeguards next to the tourists.

However, Coast Guard is promised to help anyone in danger in the sea areas, he added.
