Bangladeshi photographer and writer Shahidul Alam has claimed that he was intercepted at sea and kidnapped by Israeli forces, according to a video and social media post shared today (Oct 8) on his verified Facebook profile.
In the video, Alam identified himself and accused Israel of carrying out genocide in Gaza with the support of the United States and other Western powers. He urged his friends, colleagues, and supporters to continue advocating for the freedom of Palestine.
“I am Shahidul Alam, a photographer and writer from Bangladesh. If you are seeing this video, we have been intercepted at sea and I have been kidnapped by the Occupation Forces of Israel,” he said.
However, the Facebook post did not provide details about the location, time of interception, or his current condition.
The post quickly drew attention from human rights activists and the international community, who are calling for urgent clarification of his whereabouts and safety.
Authorities and diplomatic channels have yet to confirm Shahidul Alam’s claims, and calls for an immediate investigation are growing.
