DMP bans rallies, gatherings near CJ's residence, SC

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on all forms of public gatherings—including rallies, processions, and demonstrations—around the official residence of the Chief Justice and key judicial institutions in the capital.

According to a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali and issued on Thursday (June 12), the restrictions will take effect from Saturday (June 14) and remain in place until further notice.

The ban covers the areas in front of the Chief Justice’s official residence, Justice Bhaban, the Judges Complex, all main entry points of the Supreme Court, the Mazar Gate, Jam-e Masjid Gate, the entrances to the International Crimes Tribunal-1 and 2, and the Judicial Administration Training Institute.

The move aims to ensure public order and prevent any disruptions to the functioning of vital judicial institutions, the DMP said.

The police have also reiterated their call to avoid blocking roads or disrupting traffic under the banner of protests or other programs.

They also urged all stakeholders to cooperate in maintaining law and order in these sensitive areas.
