A five-year-old girl was killed and four members of her family were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a private car in Muksudpur upazila of Gopalganj.
The accident occurred around noon on Wednesday (June 11) in front of Sky Blue Restaurant at Daserhat on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.
The deceased, Saima Rahman, was the daughter of Rafiur Rahman from New Eskaton Road in Dhaka. The injured include her father Rafiur Rahman (45), mother Nusrat Jahan (37), brother Asik Rahman (10), and younger brother Abdur Rahman (4). All of them were later sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
According to Wahidur Rahman, a Muksudpur Fire Service official, the family was travelling to Khulna from Dhaka in a private car. When the car reached in front of Sky Blue Restaurant, it collided head-on with a speeding passenger bus of Sohag Paribahan coming from the opposite direction. The car was badly crushed, leaving all five passengers seriously injured.
Rescuers from Muksudpur Fire Service rushed to the scene, recovered the injured, and took them to Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex. There, Saima died while undergoing treatment in the afternoon.
