The price of gold has increased again by Tk1,469 per bhori (11.664 grams), just a day after surpassing the Tk2,00,000 mark.

According to a statement from the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (Bajus) issued on Tuesday night, the new rates will take effect from Wednesday morning.

Under the revised rates, 22-carat gold now costs Tk2,02,195 per bhori—the highest on record in Bangladesh. The prices for 21-carat, 18-carat, and traditional gold have been set at Tk1,93,004, Tk1,65,431, and Tk1,37,472 per bhori, respectively.

Buyers must also pay a 5% VAT as mandated by the government, along with a minimum 6% making charge fixed by Bajus, though the charge may vary based on design and quality.

This marks the fourth consecutive gold price hike, following Monday’s increase of Tk3,150 per bhori that pushed prices beyond Tk2,00,000 for the first time in the country’s history.
