Banks, bourses to remain closed for four days during Durga Puja

Banks and capital markets across Bangladesh will remain closed for four consecutive days from Wednesday (Sept 30) in observance of Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the country’s Hindu community.

According to banking and stock exchange authorities, October 1 has been declared a government holiday by executive order, followed by a day off on October 2 for Vijaya Dashami.

With the weekend falling on Friday and Saturday (October 3-4), financial operations will remain suspended for a total of four days.

Transactions at banks and trading on the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges will resume on Sunday (October 5), officials confirmed. The bourses said trading will take place as usual, starting at 10:00 a.m.
