RAJSHAHI: Maternal uncle and his nephew have been killed in Rajshahi, as a battery run auto-rickshaw they were riding was sandwiched between two trucks.

The incident took place at Talaimari intersection in Rajshai city at about 1:30 pm on Sunday (May 07).

The deceased were identified as Bishal Hossain, 20, son of Solaiman Ali of Sadhurmur area of the city, and Hasibul Islam Hasib, 17, son of Tutul Hossain of Borkuti area of the city.

Bishal is the maternal uncle, while Hasib is his nephew. During the accident, Hasib was driving the auto-rickshaw while Bishal was sitting in it.      

The auto-rickshaw, which was leaving out the city, was crushed between the two trucks, leaving the maternal uncle and the nephew severe injured.

The locals rescued them and rushed to the Rajshai Medical College Hospital (RMCH). They succumbed to injuries in the hospital in the afternoon.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Boalia police station Shahadat Hossain told Banglanews that the agitated people blockaded the road following the accident. Later, police took the situation under control.

The OC also said that the locals seized the killer trucks, but the drivers managed to escape. Case will be filed in this connection, he added.
