Youth held for ‘spreading rumour on facebook’

CHATTOGRAM: Police arrested a young man from Lal Dighir par area in the port city on Monday (Oct 21) night for spreading rumours on social media using picture of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) commissioner. 

The arrestee is MH Robiul Alam, 28, son of Ahmad Hossain of Purbo Puichhari area in Banshkhali upazila.

Robiul is also worker of ship breaking factory ‘Four Star Ship Breaking Industries Ltd’ in Baro Aulia area in Sitakunda upazila. 

He has also identified himself as a coordinator of Chittagong South District of the Jatiya Cyber Party, a affiliate organization of Jatiya Party.
    
Mohammad Mohsin, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station (OC) told Banglanews that after the recent incident in Bhola, Rabiul Alam made a provocative statement by posting a picture of the ISKCON delegation meeting with CMP Commissioner Md Mahbubur Rahman on Facebook. 

Posting fake photos of Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Shah Ahmed Shafi and Secretary-General Junaid Babunagari, the detainee spread false information that the police had surrounded the Hathazari Madrasa and shut down the power connection.
