BSTI shuts 4 mineral water factories

DHAKA: Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) on Tuesday (Feb 19) shut four factories for purifying and supplying water in various areas of the capital without having any license.

The companies are Azad Water Factory in Panthapath, Drop Drinking Water in Rayerbagh, Monir Water Factory in Beribadh Laltek and a unnamed water factory in Gechertek area.

Two joint teams of BSTI and Armed Police Battalion, led by BSTI deputy directors Md Saiful Islam and Md Riazul Haque, launched daylong separate drives at the factories in Sobhanbag, Panthapath, Greenroad, Rayerbazar, Mirpur, Mohammadpur, Adabar, Darus Salam, Pirerbagh and Kazipara areas.

The surveillance teams of BSTI also destroyed 3,200 non food-grated and dirty pots during the drive in 20 hotels, restaurants and tea stalls in the areas.
